Identification: Flowers greenish-white and hanging in drooping clusters from the stem. Floral bracts 5 in number and the pappus is white. Basal leaves triangular in shape, but variably cut. Plant 2 to 7 feet in height.

Distribution: Southeastern Canada southward to Georgia and Texas.

Habitat: Tall Rattlesnake-root is found in moist woods.

Flowering period: July to October.

Similar Species: The presence of 5 floral bracts rather than 7 to 8 is distinctive for this species
